How do I place a Limit Order in My Generation Portfolio?

A Limit Order is an order type that allows you to set your own trade price, and will not be executed unless the price you specify (or better) can be obtained.

To place a limit order in your brokerage account, you will need to open a live trading ticket using your "My Generation Portfolio."

Once the trading ticket is open, select Buy or Sell from the Action drop down:

For the order type, select Limit.

Choose an expiration for your order. Good for Day means the order will expire at the end of the trading day (4:00 PM ET, for a regular trading session). Good 'Till Canceled orders will expire in 60 days.

Type in the number of shares you want to trade, then type in your limit price. Remember, your order will not fill unless your price or better can be achieved in the market.

Click on Review Order to review your order's details. Click submit to activate your order.

Click on the Orders tab of your portfolio to see your pending, open, cancelled and rejected orders.
